Intentional Advent: Day 2

You are invited to participate in An Intentional Advent! Julie Kay Harbour and Leona Dalavai Scott are teaming up to put together this series on some thoughtful and intentional ways we can prepare our hearts for the Savior’s birth.

As Julie mentioned yesterday, the first week of Advent explores the theme of Hope … hope was delivered with the birth of Jesus. When Jesus was born, His birth fulfilled a prophecy in Isaiah that was told 700 years before He was born – that a Virgin gives birth to a son.

For today’s Advent reflection, read Isaiah 7:14, where the PROPHECY IS REVEALED: All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’). – NLT

PROPHECY FULFILLED: Matthew 1:21-23: She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).

Seven hundred years is a long time to wait, yet God always keeps His promises!

Is there something in your life that you are waiting on God? Don’t we all have something?

Won’t you reflect on this beautifully fulfilled prophecy through Jesus’s birth? Waiting is never easy, but as believers, we are assured that “Immanuel – God with us” encourages us that we are not waiting alone.

How has Immanuel – God with Us helped you during your most challenging periods of waiting?
