Intentional Advent: Day 11

You are invited to participate in An Intentional Advent! Julie Kay Harbour and Leona Dalavai Scott are teaming up to put together this series on thoughtful and intentional ways to prepare our hearts for the Savior’s birth.

In many families, the Fisher-Price Nativity set is a classic first nativity set made for the wear and tear of toddlers.

Even though my girls are in their teens, they still enjoy seeing it come out year after year. They enjoy its sweetness and can’t help moving around the characters and pressing down on the angel at the top which lights up the star and plays the music for “Away in a Manager.”

Central to any nativity set is the manger.

Have you ever considered Jesus, born in a humble, lowly manger, becoming our dwelling?

John 1:14 says, “The word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only son, who came from the father, full of grace and truth.”

When we receive Christ as our savior, He dwells in our hearts and becomes our dwelling place.

Do you have a favorite nativity set? Consider sharing a photo in the comments below. What does it mean for Jesus to be your dwelling place?
