Intentional Advent: Day 13

You are invited to participate in An Intentional Advent! Julie Kay Harbour and Leona Dalavai Scott are teaming up to put together this series on thoughtful and intentional ways to prepare our hearts for the Savior’s birth.

During this Advent, we have been studying about Bethlehem. On Day 7, we examined the prophecy of how Jesus would be born in Bethlehem. On Day 10, we learned the origin of the classic hymn O Little Town of Bethlehem.

Today, I want to share the meaning of “Bethlehem” with you. Did you know that “Bethlehem” in Hebrew means “House of Bread?” The birthplace of Jesus, who is referred to as the “Bread of life,” was born in a town meaning House of Bread.

In John 6:35, Jesus identifies Himself as the “bread of life”: Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.

How is Jesus your bread of life?
